After checking in with my manager, I start the morning inspection of attractions, emergency equipment, first aid supplies, and more. While inspecting the park, I also check for cleanliness and safety concerns and bring anything of concern to my maintenance team. After that, I set up the video security room and get the lifeguards ready for their day.​

Getting my lifeguards ready for the day is a great time to engage with the whole team, assigning starting spots and checking to make sure they’re in full uniform. During the meeting, we plan for the day—how busy we will be, rules and expectations to uphold, and any upcoming events or department-specific announcements. We also discuss a weekly safety topic and celebrate our pack accomplishments at the end of the meeting.​

Throughout the day, it's my job to ensure both the guards and guests are having a great day. I make sure all the guards get breaks, have everything they need, and support them with the guests when needed. I coach and provide feedback—safety is job number one, and my guards are always rescue ready! When it’s my turn, I rotate into the video security room and help take part in keeping of guests safe in our park.

One of my favorite things—and one of the greatest impacts I can make—is training Pack Members to be the best possible lifeguards they can be. I get to assist with lifeguard classes, and nothing is more rewarding then seeing their success. Training is never fully complete in the water park, so I coach, audit, and provide wisdom about the job on a daily basis. My managers are also around to provide support if I need it.

Towards the end of the day, I put together a plan in order to get the park cleaned and sanitized for the next day. Five minutes before closing, I join my lifeguards in howling out loud with the guests, signaling we are all part of the Great Wolf Pack. Once the park is cleared of guests, I assist my lifeguards in cleaning and setting up the park for success the next day.
